Mustard in June

June in Winnipeg is nearly perfect – the air is not humid, but warm on the skin, the insects haven’t woken (except for the little tent caterpillars that graced us for almost the entirety of the month), and the evening light is long. This particular day was so temperate – just a soft misting of rain during the meal was welcomed. Our creative director, Pauline Boldt invited us to her home to take part in a lifestyle and food photoshoot for our client Carly Minish from Smak Dab Mustards, a client with whom we’ve developed a lovely friendship. As a chef, she is inherently generous and it is made clear in all of our interactions. Each dish you see here was made by her, without us barely lifting a finger except to set the table, and we were happy to devour and share this meal with her.
